New perspectives in art and furniture

"There is no reality except the one contained within us. That is why so many people live such an unreal life. They take the images outside them for reality and never allow the world within to assert itself" (Hermann Hesse)

neil has been set up to showcase the work of new   artists. The main connection between most of the artists is that they trained or were active in the London art scene of the early 1990s. However, many of them have now gone on to live in diverse areas of the UK and rest of the world. This month we highlight four artists:

Tim Oldham: a prizewinning furniture designer

Paula Madden: professional landscape artist; also specialises in textile sculpures

Mark Chlad: geometric art and portraiture

 Henry Mandell: abstract art

Update: in March 2009 Finbar Madden joins the site. He has been producing art for the past 40 years. Born in Devon, and a published poet, Finbar is a well known illustrator whose work has graced the covers of several books. We hope you enjoy his work.

Please note that it is not our policy to provide lengthy prosaic biographies and/or statements about any of the artists or items posted here. If you like what you see and would like to know more, please contact us.
